Ira Toyota of Manchester put together this 2018 Toyota Tacoma review to help you see what the latest Tacoma model can do for you.

Toyota Tacoma Power

2018 Toyota Tacoma

There are two engines available for the 2018 Toyota Tacoma. First, there’s a 2.7L DOHC 16-Valve 4-Cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) that gets 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The second, more powerful option is a 3.5L DOHC V6 engine that gets 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft or torque. You’ll also have your choice between a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.

All that power can help you tow a large payload, too. The available Tow Package allows you to tow up to up to 6,800 pounds, and Trailer-Sway Control will help you rest easy knowing that your payload is stable and under control.

That VVT ability allows you to go longer without worrying about filling up too. The 2018 Tacoma gets an EPA-estimated 22 MPG highwayi.

Off-Roading Ability

With its 4WDemand part-time 4WD, the 2018 Toyota Tacoma was built for off-roading. The Multi-Terrain Select feature lets you adjust the drivetrain to better attack whatever terrain you’re going through. With just the turn of a dial you can flip between four terrain specific modes: Rock, Loose Rock, Sand, and Mud.

Its available Crawl Control adjusts the throttle and brakes on five low-speed settings to help you get over rocky terrain with ease. The Electronically controlled locking rear differential also distributes torque and power evenly to the rear wheels to provide more traction in slippery conditions.

Steep hills are also no problems for the Tacoma thanks to Hill Start Assist Control. This feature prevents rollback by allowing you to start accelerating before the brakes unlock.

It goes beyond features too. The suspension has FOX Internal Bypass shocks that feature 2.5-inch aluminum housing and an oversized shaft for added height when navigating off-road.

Toyota Tacoma Truck Bed

2018 Toyota Tacoma

In addition to being able to tow up to 6,800 pounds and get over the toughest terrain, the 2018 Toyota Tacoma features a fully capable truck bed.

An Easy Lower Tailgate is just the beginning. The base of the bed is made of a durable fiber-reinforced Sheet-Molded Composite surface that has greater impact strength than steel.

You’ll also be able to tie cargo down securely. The standard deck rail system features C-channel frames and four heavy-duty adjustable tie-down cleats.

There are loads of available features for this truck bed including a cargo divider, a cargo net, a bed extender, mini tie-down hooks, and bed lighting. There’s even a 120V/400W power outlet mounted on the side of the truck bed.
