The Toyota Tacoma is a powerful and highly capable compact pickup truck. To make sure it runs well around Amherst, Manchester, and Derry for a long time, you'll want to keep up with its routine maintenance.
In this Toyota Tacoma maintenance schedule, we'll tell you the kind of work your truck will need at any given time. The schedule below is for normal driving conditions; you'll want to check your owner's manual for additional maintenance items for special driving conditions.

Tacoma Maintenance Schedule: 5,000 Miles
When the odometer in the Toyota Tacoma hits 5,000 miles, that's when the first maintenance check will need to be performed.
During this service visit, your vehicle will get the following work completed...
- Check installation of driver's floor mat.
- Inspect and adjust all fluid levels.
- Inspect wiper blades.
- Rotate tires.
- Visually inspect brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs.
Tacoma Maintenance Schedule: 10,000 Miles & 20,000 Miles
The 10,000-mile check will follow the same steps as the 5,000-mile one. However, you'll now add the following work...
- Inspect cabin air filter.
- Replace engine oil and oil filter.
Then, at 20,000 miles, you'll want to replace the cabin air filter.
Tacoma Maintenance Schedule: 30,000 Miles
The 30,000-mile visit will be much more involved. It'll include the above work, plus add...
- Lubricate propeller shaft (4WD).
- Re-torque propeller shaft bolt.
- Replace engine air filter.
You'll also want to get the following inspected...
- Automatic transmission fluid cooler hoses and connections
- Ball joints and dust covers
- Brake lines and hoses
- Drive shaft boots (4WD)
- Engine coolant
- Exhaust pipes and mountings
- Front differential oil (4WD)
- Fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band, and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
- Fuel tank cap gasket
- Radiator and condenser
- Rear differential oil
- Steering gear
- Steering linkage and boots
- Transfer case oil (4WD)
- Transmission for signs of leakage
Tacoma Maintenance Schedule: 60,000 & 120,000 Miles
The 60,000-mile check will follow the same format at the 30,000-mile one. However, you'll now want to have the spark plugs replaced in the 2GR-FKS engine only. Plus, you'll want to have the drive belts inspected.
If everything is still running smoothly after 120,000 miles, then you've done an excellent job at keeping up with the routine maintenance.
The same work that was done at 60,000 miles will also be done at this point. However, you'll want to replace the spark plugs, regardless of what engine the Tacoma is equipped with. Additionally, you'll want to replace the vacuum pump for the brake booster (2GR-FKS engine only, except for off-road package models).
